Safety car didn’t win me the race – Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton insists that it wasn’t safety car deployment the reason he won the British GP, Hamilton insists it was his one-stop strategy that did it.

“I was going to do one-stop strategy,” said Hamilton

“Bottas were in a different strategy, he was on a two-stops,”

“The safety car wouldn’t have made any difference,”

“When Bottas pitted on lap 16, my plan was to stay out as much as I could,” said Lewis.

“At the time he was not catching me, I was keeping the gap the same,”

“I would have come out on my fresh hards and I could have just sat behind Bottas, and he would have to pit, so would still have had that 21 second gap at the end,” added Lewis Hamilton.
